iOS 5 update notification

I posted this question in a thread located in the Ipad General discussion section inadvertently. I mean to ask all and any Ipad 2 owners and users do you also have the red "1" badge on your settings icon? If so is there away to get rid of it without installing the update? I would like to eliminate the possibility of accidently updating. But at the very least not having to look at that "1" on my screen everytime I open it up.

AFAIK, there is no way to remove that badge from the Settings icon - until/unless you update the software.

And, all I can say to that is: I so feel/share your pain! I'm holding out with my iPhone and it is a constant irritant.

So, I'd love to be proven wrong ... but I think not. Sorry.
