iOS 7.1 beta 2 has been recently released for developers and some of them have discovered a really useful new option – the ability to delete iOS installation files which have been automatically downloaded over-the-air (OTA). Many iOS users have been requesting this feature, as this will finally let users delete the locally stored install files without having to update the firmware of their iPhone or iPad.
The new feature is actually part of the second beta of iOS 7.1, as the download for the third beta can be deleted without ever being installed. German site Macerkopf.de was the first one to spot the much needed feature. Now, the ability to delete installation files will let users who don’t wish to upgrade their devices to new versions of iOS free up valuable space.
However, provided that this is still a beta version, we don’t know for sure if this feature will get the final OK. The latest iOS 7.1 beta 3 includes a number of visual changes such as the redesigned Phone dialer, the m proved keyboard, and darker colors for the Phone, Messages, and FaceTime apps.
