What's new

iOS 7 on iPad 2

I don't like the look of it but suppose will have to get used to it. It seems faster so far and less glitchy. Icons look awful. The ones at the bottom used to have a 3 d effect sat on a shelf now it is all very cheap looking.

Q where is the volume/brightness control panel you used to be able to get by double clicking and swiping right? Used that a lot. Im lost without it.

Thanks
Eun

You can access that now from the Control Center, which is found (at the homescreen or in any app) by swiping up from the bottom of the screen. In that Control Center, among many things, are the volume and brightness controls. Like this:

/me whistles very innocently

I'm in no hurry to upgrade (and probably never will till the next upgrade fix with a big maybe) since I'm still on 5.1, and enjoying a great battery life, since I bought it new on ebay when my previous one got the screen shattered and was not to fond with that one, when I upgraded to 6.0 then 6.1 I had issues battery wise and wifi also, Now with the replacement it's like a brand new iPad (which technically it is) With software that works for me. Of course I won't be able to download apps that require iOS 6 or later but that's fine by me when all I want is a iPad that last me longer on battery, when I'm browsing and watching videos without worrying about battery and wifi and on screen keyboard issues.

I'm surprised To find another iPad 2 user with iOS 5.1. I like it the Way it is, I like the looks, and got used To its limitations. Battery life is great after 1,5 years.
I'm also surprised To find out that majority of reports on this forum telling ios7 is faster for ipad2. On other websites I searched is definately the opposite, and that's What I expected To find.
I upgraded my iPod 3 gen To iOS 5 and it got close To unusable. I don't like Apple's old devices upgrade politics.
I definately like my iPad and don't want To risk ruining it unless I'm sure it will work fine.

I now wonder What causes some ipads to work fine while others seem not To.
Could it be different settings?

I've got two iPad 2s, one with IOS 6 and the other with IOS 7. The IOS 7 does seem to speed things up a little but it's not enough to sell me on it. I'm more than content using my iPad with IOS 6. I'm going to work on my iPhone IOS 7 problems today, I think a Galaxy S4 should do the trick.
