AppleInsider reports today on a 23-page document just released by the security experts at Norton-maker Symantec, entitled “A Window Into Mobile Device Securityâ€, which looks at the different ways in which Apple and Google operate in terms of the security features of iOS and Android respectively. As far as a head-to-head comparison between the two systems goes, Symantec says that iOS is more secure than Android, even going so far as to say that iOS has “full protection†against malware, and that Android, in contrast, has “very little.†And that’s not all! The report also finds that iOS is more protected against resource abuse, service attacks, data loss, and data integrity attacks than Android, according to AppleInsider. Basically, it would be quicker to list the areas in which Apple’s iOS didn’t excel over Android, as there’s only one of those: isolation. According to Symantec, this is the one area where Android came out on top, with iOS only providing “moderate protection.†Symantec summed up its findings by saying that iOS is “well designed and thus far… has proven largely resistant to attack.†Oops, don’t speak too soon!
