I can't find a spot to plug headphones into my ipad air 4 does it not have a spot for headphones

You either need wireless headphones like AirPods or you can get this USB C to headphone jack adaptor. Buy USB-C to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter
Just plug the adaptor into the charging port and connect the headphones to the adaptor.
