Thanks. I can't see it, but that's probably because my 2009 iMac is too old to be compatible with Handoff.

I suppose you're right. Pages, Keynote and Numbers are still showing as beta version in iCloud, so we'll have to wait what Apple intends to do.My guess is we are transitional and eventually all will be folded into drive. But it's just a guess because current arrangement seems so illogical.
This will also stop syncing bookmarks, the reading list, saved login information...What about turning off safari in icloud?
