ipad app for streaming to tv

I'm new to iPad (and apple for that matter) and I'm wondering if iPad has devised a way to duplicate the windows 7 live video streaming to tv functionality. (I would like to surf the web, or watch a movie on my iPad and display it on my TV [wireless of course]). Any ideas or recommendations?
