Everything works on that part, however, I can't see anything on the screen until I guess where the slide is and turn it off. Then the little dial thing in the center of the screen appears and works until the thing shuts down. Also, when I start it up the apple flashes on the screen for just a split second. I can guess where the slide is and I can slide the on screen button and it makes the click noise just like it is opening up but I see nothing but the back light. Do you know if it is the screen that needs replacing?

You can double-click the Home button (or do the 4-finger swipe up trick) and then swipe to the right. On the left side is a slider bar. See if moving that slider all the way to the right (or even to the middle) helps.
If that's not it, then I'm sorry, but I don't know what could be wrong.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.
