I bought my wife a new iPad 3 for no reason and she loves it.
She's used FaceTime for upto 3 hours a time and plays bingo every night (she's only 29).

I've posted a question in the iPad 3 forum regarding her cracked screen - we don't know how it happened, as it's kept wrapped in cottonwool.

I'll probably be the person browsing and asking questions as she expects me to know all the answer even though I only have an iPhone 4 - I'm not allowed on her iPad.

Hope to chat to you all soon, seems like a lovely forum here.

Cheers
Paul

Hi there Paul and welcome.

There is lots of good advice and info on here plus plenty of members all too willing to help with any problems.

Remember, search is your friend. If you can't find the answer you need and you post a question then give as much info as you can to help members help you i.e. iPad 1 or 2, iOS version and name of app if the problem is with a specific app........and please don't forget to read the rules http://www.ipadforums.net/forum-rules-help-info/2119-forum-rules-everybody-please-read.html

These are the hacking section rules for all you jail breakers (and would be jail breakers) http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/2892-hacking-section-rules-please-read.html

We also have an app for this forum. The link to download the app is: Discussion Forum for iPad Users for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

You can download the manual for your iPad here http://support.apple.com/manuals/ and in iBooks search for "iPad user guide for" and you will find free comprehensive manuals for both iOS 4 and 5.

If you have other Apple products or are interested in other Apple kit then why not join our sister forum too at http://www.appleforums.net/

If she's got the iPad, seems to make more sense for her to join the forum. There's even a forum app that she can load for free.

She doesn't do forums I'm afraid.

I think I'm going to fix the screen myself or get it repaired privately instead of at Apple.

I called a store and they quoted £250 for a new screen!

I should say I'm an electronic engineer, so it shouldn't be too difficult.

Apple wouldn't repair the screen as such but will just replace the iPad.

Do be careful if you replace the screen yourself. You will find tear downs on the net but the thing to be careful about is the wifi connection, it is very fragile and many have reported it not working after a screen fix and that's even after so called professionals have done it. Something to also keep in mind, if you or another do it, this will void your warranty.
