iPad Gmail Messages Deleted are still on Macbook

I use an iPad and a Macbook Pro, and check my Gmail on whichever machine I am using. Messages that I delete on the iPad still show up in Gmail on the Macbook, and sometimes vice versa. I thought I had all the correct settings on the iPad system options for Gmail, but it still doesn't seem to sync correctly.
