iPad/iPhone location tracking - is it still retrievable?

I've been told that after last year's scandal, Apple fixed the hole that allowed a user's location to be tracked by extracting information from their iPad or iPhone. That said, I would really like to use my devices as an alibi for a wrongful speeding ticket I'm fighting (96 in a 55 mph zone - except I wasn't speeding.)

Does anyone know of way to retrieve this information? I had both my iPad 2 and iPhone 4 in the car, and the iPad was running the standard Maps program for directions.

Any advice is appreciated! This is tough one to figure out, but I'm determined to figure it out!
