Bought the iPad mini 5 just wondering if I need a screen protector on as I'm using the apple pen will it scratch the screen without one on thx

If you’re using the iPad in an environment where there is a lot of grit in the air which settles on the screen the Apple Pencil could possibly run against this grit causing tiny scratches. Cleaning the screen before using the Apple Pencil should alleviate the problem.

FWIW, my wife carries her Mini4 in a snug-fitting purse pocket, with no case or other protection. She has no problems with scratches.
