According to a story on AppleInsider today, Apple is already having supply issues with its forthcoming iPad mini, which is due to be announced on October 17th. The report says that analyst Brian White from Topeka Capital Markets has reported that suppliers are having problems and "yield challenges," due to certain aspects of the new tablet's specifications. In fact, White says that it is these yield issues that saw the iPad mini’s release date pushed back from the expected September to October. Even so, he says that the issues seem to have been largely resolved, as he believes that the supply chain is now more confident that it will be able to produce enough iPad minis for launch, and to meet with demand after that. Although, he qualifies this confidence slightly, by saying that the iPad mini’s full sales potential in its first few months of launch might be slightly affected by the supply chain constraints.
