Ipad using excel file for name/adress lists- door-to-door campaigning

My county has databases of its 15,000 voters. I would like to put them on my IPAD and go door-to-door campaigning against a far -right candidate. WHat is the best way to get these lists on an IPAD and access them as I go round the different neighborhoods? I could put + or - , Needs a year sign, etc nothing too fancy. Perhaps look at the list by street or who voted in which primary. The county will have that on Excel-- I want to carry it around.

I have IPAd 4 with 64k

Which programs would be best? ANy other ideas on doing this?

On the cheap, you can probably import the spreadsheet into Google Drive (I'd do it from the website) then do basic editing, sorty, etc. in the app of the same name on the iPad.

If you wanted to get fancier and don't mind spending some money, Apple's spreadsheet app, Numbers, will import Excel spreadsheets. You can then add columns for your checkmarks.

There are quite a few other Office Suite compatible apps out there: Documents to Go, Office HD, QuickOffice, etc. Any of the better ones should be able to handle the task you've outlined.

Thanks I don't mind spending $10 or so. Because I don't have WIFI I want a program that does NOT rely on cloud based computing. I wont be able to access DROPBOX so once it's in- it needs to stay in so I can work with it on the go.

Well, you can't edit from DropBox, so that's a no go anyway. In Google Drive you can mark files so that they stay synced/loaded locally. So it's still usable. The other options would only require the internet (or other means) long enough to load the spreadsheet.

Good luck, and please let us know what you choose and how it works for you.

Thanks twer so far I'm finding out that all 3 major programs let you edit offline. Now its which is the best? Probably good for another thread

There are several thread on what Office apps people like. A search should turn up a few. Most of them are older, though, so it probably wouldn't hurt to ask again. Mater of fact, if you do ask again I'd point out that it's been a while since people compared them head to head.

I haven't even seen a good head to head comparison on the blogs or news sites. I take this as an indication that Office's relevance in the world of personal computing is waning.

I will say the the users of Office HD seem to be quite pleased with it. At least it's been mentioned more often than the others as of late.

Ill cast a vote for QuickOffice pro. I've had it for a while and it's always done me good. Give it a look.
