32 GB white ordered Friday at 6am. Should be here Wednesday according to tracking

I am still praying for another supply of iPads to my local apple store or a closer shipment date. I just determined that I don't wanna wait until April 6th. It is surprising to see that there are no official comments by apple on if there is a shortage or how many iPads they sold the first 24hrs etc...

I'd expect some press release Monday or Tuesday about first week sales.

Doubt they'll say much about the shortage though other than generic statements about making and shipping them as fast as they can etc.

I agree... Just posted in another threat, that the shipment date went to 3-4 weeks at the online store. On twitter, ppl are reporting about lines in front of apple stores all over the country, although employees assure them that theyre sold out. This is crazy!

Is that delivery date of the 16th in the Fed Ex tracking or on Apple.com?

Some have posted having a 16th estimate on Apple, but 17th on Fed Ex tracking. Mine doesn't give an estimate on Apple.com anymore, just says shipped and has the tracking number. Prior to shipping the estimate was the 18th to 25th.

I just got an update from Fed Ex. On schedule for delivery on the 17th.
It also shows arrived at LANTAU ISLAND HK

Mine says that only Mar 14, 2011 12:46 AM.

He probably just has his set to time at his location as 11:59pm on the east coast would be just before midnight in HK--so just 47 minutes before your time.

Local news just did a bit on the Apple store located in the largest city in my area - they received 40 units and sold all of them within the first 30 minutes. The store spokesman said they would be getting another shipment in next week and were developing a wait list.

I was told by our local Apple store that they weren't going to be getting anymore in until at least a week from today (monday)...

USA Today just posted a report indicating from Apple that they have sold out completely every IPad 2 they currently have in inventory. It also indicated that sales for this weekend were in the area of 500,000 units.

I ahve never understood why any company would under produce items that are clearly going to move units, Sony with the PS3, Microsoft with the Xbox, Nintindo with the Wii, they all know that they are going to sell a lot of them. Even if they do not sell out in the first run, they will move the units....

That being said, my ipad has not shipped yet, maybe by Wed. THe cover and hdmi dongle should be at my mom's house by the 17th. The Bodyguardz sheild should ship today and be at my mom's hose before the ipad, so it can all be sent to me at one time.
