Is 1.8 Gb update of iOS11 worth on iPad mini 2?

While I am waiting for my iPad Pro to arrive, I was thinking to avail the update for my iPad mini2. But my concern is that, is iOS 11 going to occupy more space? And slow down the device? Just because it has less RAM? Can someone share personal experience?
Thanks in advance,

Thanks Brian and scifan, I downloaded the update which took about an hour and installation took 15-20 mins on my iPad mini 2, and voila.....everything is working superb. The only app on my iPad which stopped working is “ChemDraw” which was 32 bit.

I had no choice but to update because I used my iPad mini as a satnav device, Waze would keep crashing unpredictably, on iOS9. iOS11 was forced on me and waze runs better.

It is a bit slower though, not going to make bones about it. But with these cloud bases apps where the app has to communicate with the cloud require the app to be kept up to date and requires iOS to be up to date. It's not realistic to hold out on old OSs.
