MacRumors has posted photos today of what is purported to be an iPad 3 dock connector and ribbon cable in white. The photos come from Taiwanese website Apple.pro. While the photos, if indeed accurate, are not exactly earth shatteringly exciting in terms of revealing much about the next iPad, their very existence indicates that the next iPad could be coming sooner rather than later. MacRumors has been very eagle-eyed and noticed that the connector section is white rather than the black of both the black and white versions of the iPad 2. This, MacRumors notes, is because the iPad 2’s dock connector is sited in the aluminium shell of the device, rather than in the bezel. If it was in the bezel, it would need to be the colour of the bezel (black or white), as with the white iPhone 4. Then again, it could mean absolutely nothing at all, as MacRumors also notes that the original iPad had a white dock connector!
As for the authenticity of the parts, MacRumors says that Apple.pro has previously posted genuine pictures of Apple device parts, so it can be considered to be a credible source.
