Jail Break for Ipad 3.2.2

thanks for the reply fenderprowler.

i checked the settings on the ipad prior to running tinyumbrella and it is 3.2
i checked it afterwards and it is still 3.2

i ran tinyumbrella again without going thru the process of saving and it recognizes the ipad as 3.2
there was no option for me to select as it indicates ipad 3.2

i'm just not sure and stumped on the message that is can be restored as 3.2.2

i checked the saved shsh file on my computer and it shows 3.2.2 as well (the file name)

i just don't want to jb it and then have problems/issues restoring it.
Save your SHSHs Blops Manually, not using TinyUmbrella.

How Can I Save my SHSHs Blops Manually?
-On Cydia you have this button
Make_My_Life_Easier_thumb.png
<- Use this to save your 3.2 SHSH

Once you saved, try again with the latest version of TinyUmbrella, and select the correct firmware on the Advanced Options ipad 3.2 or ipad3G 3.2

Note: If your iPad is not jailbroken, that's the reason TinyUmbrella gives you a 3.2.2 SHSH. Jailbreak your 3.2 iPad with Spirit, and then you can upgrade to 3.2.1 and use JailbreakMe. Once Jailbroken with Spirit, run Cydia on your iPad and try the button above. Then check TinyUmbrella and now you will be able to save your 3.2 SHSH.

thanks for the explanation.

i read the difference btwn 3.2 and 3.2.1 from wiki

  • Better WiFi-Connection
  • BugFix in Mail so it does not crash any more when doing copy-and-paste from a one-page-PDF
  • better reliability when using the iPad-Dock-Adapter-to-VGA
  • Added Search Engine Bing
since 3.2.1 is not much of an upgrade other than the jailbreakme exploit, i will just use spirit and stick with 3.2 as my ipad does not have a wifi issue.

tonight, i'll use spirit and then run tiny umbrella to save the .shsh

tnx for your help again.

Either edit your hosts file with this:
74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

Or use TinyUmbrella in server mode.

One thing I will say about the make my life easier button in cydia is, it will only download the (then current) newest version and anything in the future. It does not "pull files" from your i* device. It basically does a man in the middle sort of approach and asks apple on your behalf for the signing files for each new release going forward.

What this means is, if you have 3.2 now but 3.2.2 is the newest out, and you now click "make my life easier" you do not get the 3.2 shsh files, you get the 3.2.2 files, totally skipping 3.2.1.

In short, even if you, just today, click make my life easier, you will not get the shsh signing files for the version you are running (3.2), or even the middle (3.2.1), but it does save for the current 3.2.2.

TinyUmbrella will only store the (then current) shsh files, just like cydia, but cydia does it automatically.

This is why it does best to click the Make My Life Easier.

As for how to do it, as of right now, unless you are a developer who has found your OWN exploit to jailbreak, you will be waiting until after 4.1 is released (for iphones). Maybe even longer for 4.2 for the iPad since its even longer till you get it.

Finally I got it , I had two hosts files and one of them had a different ip so I erase one and kept the good one wit the right info and it worked

That is wrong information.

If you click Make My Life Easier today on 3.2/3.2.1, with no prior blobs on file, it will indeed save 3.2/3.2.1 blobs since you are already running it. Apple is not involved here one bit.

Only when using TinyUmbrella does it matter if Apple stopped signing the firmware. So if you were on 3.2/3.2.1 and have not jailbroken, you cannot use TU to save the blobs. But you most certainly CAN jailbreak and then save the blobs with Cydia.

Wait a sec...you mean I CAN save my blob for my current iPad running 3.2?!!
It's jailbroken, I did click on "make my life ..." but now Cydia says that it has SHSH on file for 3.2.2. Even TU says so.

Cheers

All I can tell you is from experience here but... I have bought and returned for various reasons, multiple 3.2.1 ipads from best buy. I would jailbreak them and run cydia and wait to see if it would get which blob. Each time it would only save the newest, 3.2.2.

As of right now I sit here with an iPad which shipped with 3.2.1 from Best Buy (just like the others), a 32gig wifi model. It still has 3.2.1 but because Apple is no longer signing for 3.2.1 it only shows I have the blob for 3.2.2 on file for Cydia. To verify I tried to use TinyUmbrella to pull the 3.2.1 blob for this device and it tells me it is not able to.

All I can say is, from my experience and what I have read about and understand with Apple and Cydia's Make My Life Easier is that it only gets the newest (and future newest) versions available from apple as it can. If it could go "backward" like you say, then why does my iPad, which I clicked make my life easier the moment I brought it home, still say I can only "downgrade" to 3.2.2. In other words, I brought it home with 3.2.1 but when I got it, Apple was only now signing for 3.2.2.

That's what I thought, you can only get shsh blob for the current "official" iOS, NOT for what's on your machine.

i was ready to jb my ipad running on 3.2 but after reading several threads here and other sites, it seems that it doesn't matter if u have 3.2 or 3.2.1, tiny umbrella will save it as 3.2.2 as was in my case when i ran t.u.

would it be the same issue if u used autoshsh?

my concern is to restore it back to 3.2 should something go wrong after jb.
