Having just released the first episode of Law & Order: Legacies for free for a limited time to get us all hooked, Telltale Games has now announced that the fifth episode in the series has arrived in the App Store. This latest installment is called Ear Witness, and revolves around the investigation of a grisly murder of a woman that relies completely on her blind son’s ability to identify the suspect purely from the sound of their voice.
The Law & Order series is based on TV’s top-rated and longest-running police procedural drama, consisting of storylines based on real-life crimes set against the distinctive backdrop of different law enforcement units. It features the likenesses of all of the show’s main characters, including Rey Curtis, played by Benjamin Bratt, and Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay. The gameplay mainly revolves around questioning witnesses and finding clues (it’s much more of a question-and-answer game than Telltale’s point-and-click adventures), beginning in and around the crime scene location, before moving back to the police station interrogation room once you have your suspect in custody, and then even into the courtroom, where you must both question witnesses in the dock and intervene when the other lawyers are questioning your witnesses. It really feels very authentic, in the same way in which the TV show does. My only complaint is that the episodes could be a little longer for the money, but that’s a minor quibble.
You can purchase and download Law & Order: Legacies Episode 5 - Ear Witness either as an individual in-app purchase for $2.99, or you can fork over $12.99 for the entire 7-episode bundle, saving you money on each episode.
