LinkedIn has announced on its blog that it’s launched LinkedIn for iPad, which joins its suite of mobile versions of the service, including the iPhone version. The blog says that the new iPad app was developed with the intention of providing an easy link to the essential information that the user requires during the day. In fact, LinkedIn has actually designed the app around the morning and evening hours, which is when, it has learned, LinkedIn members are most likely to use their iPads. They refer to this as “Coffee & Couch†behavior, and it has inspired them to develop an app that should make every professional feel like they have their own mini, iPad-shaped personal assistant. Basically, on the one screen you should have the most important information that you might need during the day, such as your meeting schedule, trending news in your chosen industry or profession, as well as updates from your co-workers such as what they are liking and commenting on. The calendar feature looks particularly impressive, syncing up with the iPad calendar to put LinkedIn profile data about the people attending your meeting instantly at your fingertips. This excellent new feature has also been added to the iPhone app. Currently the app is only available in English, but LinkedIn says that localized versions are on the way.
