Looking for an "iPad as surveillance camera" app

Is there an app that turns an iPad (or iPod touch) into a 24/7 surveillance camera, accessible from anywhere via internet either through a web browser, or another iOS app, or an OS X application?

It would be great to hear (or read) from someone who has actual experience with such an app. I did find one such app on the iTunes store (Security Cam from Crowded Road). However, this app has so bad reviews that I think its not worth to try it.

There are a number of apps that turn your iPhone/iPad camera into a web cam, which then can be accessed like a webcam. The problem with the whole idea, though, is that you would need to keep it docked for power and the screen would have to be on for the app to work.
