Lost Sound - HELP!

I have lost the sound on my iPad2 iOS 5.
No noise from the speaker in any programs. Volume control goes up and down. In "music" the display is dimmed, volume control slider goes up and down. No tunes will play. I did a restore, no difference.
Everything else seems to be ok. Help please it's new and the kids are aoing crazy.

Update. I am getting sound effects, like when I change a sound in settings-general-sound, but sounds in programs tracks in music (still dimmed), not sounds from "piano" programs.

Check your settings ~ I think something is in there. Also try a hard reset.


Hold the power button and the home button down at the same time until you see the Apple logo. About 10 seconds or so. Let it reboot. Let us know it this worked!

I did a hard reset, no change, cannot find anything in settings.

UPDATE. I am going to try a "erase all contents and setting", looks drastic.

UPDATE - Done now restoring from iTunes. Finger crossed.

UPDATE - It´s fixed. I did a reset using iTunes, i was fairly quick and did not solve the problem. I did another reset using the iPad, took ages and fixed the problem.
