If you’re one of the many who got excited at today’s story that an iPad version of Microsoft Office is on the way very soon, I’m afraid it’s time to disappoint everyone, as according to the usually very reliable John Paczkowski at AllThingsD, Microsoft has poured cold water on the scoop by The Daily, with a Microsoft spokesperson saying that it is “based on inaccurate rumours and speculation.†Although it might not be entirely bad news, as Paczkowski says, Microsoft doesn’t exactly say there will never be an Office app for the iPad, it just says that the Daily story is not accurate. It also seems that the legitimacy of the photo of the so-called prototype of the app shown by The Daily is being denied by Microsoft, with sources saying that the photo is “not legitâ€. So, sadness all round then, and you can forget about doing Track Changes on your iPad on your lap for now, unless you have CloudOn, of course! Let’s hope that the excitement at the very idea that Office might be coming to the iPad has given Microsoft food for thought, it was even a worldwide trending topic on Twitter this morning![/FONT]
