BGR has a story today about the results from a new Neilsen survey that show that the tablet market is shifting in some interesting directions. It seems that in the second quarter of last year, tablets such as the iPad and eReaders were owned primarily by people under 35. However, today’s figures show that now more than half of tablets and eReaders are owned by people who are 35 and older. To break those figures down further, 54% of tablet owners in Q2 2011 are 35 and older, up from 38% in the third quarter of 2010. And it looks like more and more women are now owning tablets, with tablet adoption by women rising from 39% in the year ago quarter to 43% in Q2 2011. The ownership of eReaders by women has also risen significantly in the past year, from 46% last year to 61% in the second quarter of 2011.
