What's new

My new iPad

I am in the medical profession. I didn't car much for iPad until somebody gave me one as a gift. Wow!! It opened up a world of many possibilities. Now I have it everywhere with me. It has helped me a lot in my practice.

Thanks Maitery. It is iPad 2 logic 3 and there is a problem. All user installed apps suddenly refused to open. The pre installed apps are okay. I am at a gret loss about what to do.

It's unusual that the native apps will work while all the others won't but give these steps a try in this order.

When an app behaves strangely it is best to close it completely and then relaunch it. From the home screen do the four finger swipe up or double press the home button to reveal your multi task bar. These are all the apps that you have opened at one time. Long press the app until it jiggles and a red minus sign will appear above it. Press the minus sign, this will close the app, not delete it, now press the home button to return to your screen. It's also a good idea to close all these apps, as it helps the iPad run smoothly, now see if the apps will launch, if not try a restart.

Press and hold the power off button, the one at the top right. You will see a slide appear to power off, slide this and the screen will go dark and a Whirly will appear. When the Whirly disappears your iPad is now off. Press the power button again until the Apple logo appears, this will take a few seconds and your iPad will restart. You should restart your iPad occasionally also as it will keep it running well. Now see if it is operating.

If not a reset is in order, this reset will not change anything on your iPad and is akin to rebooting a PC.
Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you will see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start.

Let us know how you go.

this is not true. Apple's multitasking system (which ain't real multitasking) has a special twist that makes the devices go smoothly themselves. The app can be kept in the background and they wont use power just a little bit of ram. And if you open a recourse bomb app it will quit the running apps itself. It can be an idea to quit out like Facebook and other selfupdating system as these isn't well performed thinking about multitasking system and will drain your battery.

Be that as it may, it is still a good idea to close all these apps as the iPad will run more smoothly doing this regularly.

Thanks to every one for your wonderful suggestions. I got the solution the same day through google search; "iPad installed apps not working". Simply install a new free app and open and it will unfreeze all the others. This is exactly what happened. However, I have learnt how to close apps and the need to shut down the system from time to time. Thank you all once again.
