Need some tech. Help with my iPad air...

Hi, name is Omar located in Roseville ca. So the other day my iPad air first gen died. When I went to plug it in to charge it it did as it normally does and made the ping when I connected it only this time took no other action as it usually does. It doesn't turn on and just keeps pinging every 3-4 seconds... What's wrong with my iPad? Charging port go bad on me? Anyone else have this issue?

Try holding down the home and power buttons until the Apple Logo appears. This could take up to 30 seconds.

I did a quick search and found a couple other's reporting similar issues. In their case it turned out to be a bad charger.

If you have a second charger and/or cable, you should test them with the iPad and see if that helps. Hold in mind that most USB chargers don't supply enough current to charge an iPad. They should to be rated for iPad charging, at least 10W (2A at 5V). Half of that will generally charge an iPad that is not in use, but very slowly.

Thanks for the replies, I already tried doing a hard reset on it (holding down the home button and power button down at the same time) to no avail. But only held it down for the 10-15 seconds. When I get home I'll try it for longer.

I also already tried a different charger, one from my other iPad air and does the same thing (pings like a power source/usb was detected and continues to ping every 4-5 seconds).

Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you in advanced.

It sounds like hardware problem. If you've got an Apple Store nearby you should make an appointment and have them look at it. That much is free. If there is any hardware repair needed they will quote you a price. You can probably find a cheaper third party repair shop, but make sure they have a good reputation.

If you bought Applecare with your iPad it should still be under warranty. Be sure to check.
