Netflix app question for iPad2

Hello.
Question: My iPad2 doesn't have 3G. So, if i download the Netflix app, will it allow me to stream a movie to my iPad before leaving the house and watch it later, say at the doctor's office or in the park, where there's no wifi connection? Or do I have to be connected to the internet the entire run of the film in order to watch?
