Hello to everyone. Some quick background - been in IT now for over 12 years where I administer servers, both virtual and physical. I work with more Linux than Windows, but have a MacBook Pro for most of my computing. My thinking is, whatever tool fits best for that particular project, i.e. Windows 7 for my flight sim needs, Mac/Linux for most everything else.

I've been researching tablets ever since the iPad was first released. Honestly, I found it tough to justify a tablet at first, but I'm starting to see enough of a case to justify buying one now. The portability, battery life, business/home apps and built-in wifi are the main points. I've jailbroken my iphone so tethering to a non-cellular iPad isn't an issue. I'm on the original AT&T no holds barred data plan still.

I have an Amazon Prime account and am in the market for something that will be able to take advantage of all their content. If I can get the iPad to access this content, jailbroken or otherwise, I'll definitely be going with the iPad 2. If anyone has any info on this topic, I'd sure appreciate it. I'll continue to search/research the forums though.

Hi there and welcome.

There is lots of good advice and info on here plus plenty of members all too willing to help with any problems.

Remember, search is your friend.......and please don't forget to read the rules http://www.ipadforums.net/forum-rules-help-info/2119-forum-rules-everybody-please-read.html

These are the hacking section rules for all you jail breakers (and would be jail breakers) http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/2892-hacking-section-rules-please-read.html

We also have an app for this forum. The link to download the app is: Discussion Forum for iPad Users for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

If you have other Apple products or are interested in other Apple kit then why not join our sister forum too at http://www.appleforums.net/

Finally, if you still haven't had enough, how about a video explaining about our other forums (note:you may want to play this at half speed but hey, why shouldn't Phil be excited about our forums!)

Unfortunately, the only thing of Amazon's you can run on the iPad (iPad1 or iPad2) is the Kindle app and the various shopping apps Amazon has offered.

I know you cannot run any of the videos Amazon offers via the Prime service. I know this because, as an Amazon Prime member, I've looked! Nope - guess Amazon doesn't want iPads to access their video accounts ... for whatever reason. So, that's out.

I'm not sure about the music streaming or the Kindle borrow-from-the-library thing Amazon's got going now. Not been interested enough to research, TBH.

Bottom line: If you want to access Amazon's Prime video membership/movies - don't try to use an iPad ... at this time. Sorry.

Thanks for the warm welcome and info.

Mickey> That's been the consensus unfortunately. Sure seems like someone coding for Cydia would come up with some sort of connector to bridge the gap. Wish vendors could just get along.
