The New York Times’ Bits tech blog has a feature today on the forthcoming iPad 3 in which it says that it has heard from an Apple employee that the new iPad is “essentially the same size and shape as the iPad 2,†but that it has a much improved and “truly amazing†screen. The anonymous source also said that the next iPad will have a faster processor. This is nothing we haven’t heard before of course, but it’s interesting to hear from what could be considered an official source. One thing we haven’t heard too much about, however, but which the Times piece touches on, is what the new iPad will be called, saying that it is “unclear†whether or not the new iPad will be called iPad 3, citing the example of the iPhone 4S, which most predicted would be called the iPhone 5 before it was announced.
