New to Apple and IPad

Hi, I have just taken my first step into the waters of the world of Apple after being a Windows user for what seems like forever.

I've bought a very nice iPad 3 32gb and love it.

I have a couple of queries though. Firstly music tracks seem to take a long time to load via iTunes sync. Is his normal? What is the best file type for this?

Secondly after loading some music I ended up with loads of tunes that are grayed out and so are the albums. These don't play but also won't let me delete them from within the iPad. I've tried clearing the iTunes library and then synching but this makes no difference.

I'm sure it's just me doing something wrong.

Can anyone help please?
