After I replaced the cracked screen I am having power problem with my iPad 2. It will not turn on by pressing the power button. But if I connect to my macbook pro it does power on and everything looks and works fine. When I disconnect from the laptop though I cannot turn it off with the power button, it has to timeout which is set to 2 minutes in General/auto-Lock. Then if I want to turn it back on all I have to do is press the Home button. It looks like the power button problem. I do not see any visible damage in the area of power button, power cable or volume control area except there is a very thin black wire running across top edge which is not connected to anything. I do not know what it is for. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the forum! :) From your description, I suspect that you have a hardware issue w/ the power button (not sure if the 'loose' black wire is the issue?) - you likely will have to disassemble the iPad and replace the power button (check iFixit to see if their is a guide describing that procedure); otherwise a visit to an Apple store or an authorized Apple dealer would be my suggestion. Good luck and let us know your results - Dave

Hi ajnabi. Further to the excellent advice and link provided by Dave above, I have transferred your thread to the iPad DIY sub-forum where you may get more specialised attention to your issue.
Regards, Andrew

Thank you OB, sorry for posting in the wrong place. Also what I thought was the thin black wire is actually part of the bezel that had been cut off when I was removing the cracked screen. I took that off. Now I think my problem is the power cable. I will have to watch few videos to see if I can tackle the problem myself.

Hey, no worries! Owning an iPad2 and posting in the iPad2 forum was not exactly a hanging offence;) Have a good read of the threads in the DIY area, you are bound to pick up some good pointers there.
