Forbes reports today that News Corp’s iPad-only publication, entitled The Daily, will be launched on January 19, 2011. The release date has yet to be officially confirmed, but Forbes’ Mixed Media blog says that it has it on good authority from a News Corp insider that the 19th is the correct date. The blog adds that Rupert Murdoch also briefed as much to selected journalists at CES, but the details are currently embargoed until the official announcement is made. If you go to The Daily, you can enter you email to receive updates from The Daily, including the release date, presumably.
According to Forbes, The Daily’s staff are already hard at work creating several dummy issues which have been sent to a select list of just 1,000 readers. It really will be fascinating to see what sort of content The Daily carries. Will it be more news-orientated than anything else, what will the tone be in terms of News Corp’s other companies, and exactly how much involvement will Apple have? Fortunately we don’t have long to wait to find out the answer to this and many more questions!
