Here in the States, we think government and business is too intertwined, but compared to most other countries, it is hardly the case. What is a big issue, is that almost to a person, people think that how things are done in one place, applies to all locations. The Nightline episode promises to be interesting, and controversial.
Well said K3. And anyone who has spent any amount of time in China at all knows that being an "expert" on how politics/business/law and guanxi work together there is basically impossible. Just when you think you have it figured out, you don't.

AppleInsider reports today that Chinese firm Proview has had some success in its current trademark dispute with Apple, by winning a ruling from the Intermediate People’s Court in Huizhou, China, which told distributors to stop selling the iPad.
I kinda doubt it'll play out that way. Proview is looking for a big payday for sure. But Apple has the legal and financial means to tie things up in court for a bit at least. But the Chinese legal system is not quite like US courts where whoever has the most cash to throw at lawyers can usually wait out the other guy. There's a decision pending in a local Shanghai court that could go a long way towards deciding whether Proview gets a big settlement, small settlement or no settlement. Or even if they lose there Proview could just keep judge shopping in local courts to try and nettle Apple into upping the payout a bit. Hard to know what the Chinese courts will do and how much patience Apple has.Chinese news reports say Proview, which makes computer displays, is deep in debt and needs a big settlement from Apple.
All Apple does is rename the iPad until Proview goes bankrupt and then they can swoop in and buy up the name during Proview's fire sale...
