Hello,
I can't play video on my ipad, it may be a coincidence but before upgrading to ios6 everything was working fine.
It is now impossible to play any video, utube or others.
I did a full reset, no help.
When i try to play a video the screen goes black, the little wheel start turning (indicating busy i guess), but nothing happens. I also loose internet connection and have to go in setup mode to reset the wifi connection.
Can anyone help?

Many thanks

Help please....

Since you've already reset the iPad, and there are also network issues, try this.

Turn your router off.

Go into Settings > General > Reset, then Reset Network Settings.

Turn the router back on.

When it is back online, rejoin you network and see if things work any better.

iOS has also gotten pickier about router connections. It likes IP6 (the newer bigger network protocol) to be turned on in the router. If you don't know how to do this try contacting the manufacturer (or ISP if they installed the router) to make sure you firmware and settings are up to date.

For reference: To make sure we are on the same page with resets et al.

When you have problems with an app it's a good idea to clear it from RAM.

Close/Clear the app: With the problem app closed, double tap on the Home button to get the multitask bar. Tap and hold on any icon in the bar until they jiggle, then tap the minus sign on the problem app. This will remove it from RAM and insure a clean start the next time you launch the app.

If that does not work try a restart,

Restart: Hold down the power button until the power off slider appears. Slide it off. When the iPad finishes shutting down, hold down the power button again until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends you restart the iPad at least once a month.

and then a reset if that does not work.

Reset: Hold down the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears. The iPad will reboot. This usually takes a bit longer than a restart. takes a bit longer than a restart.

Hello and thanks for your suggestions.

I tried everything you mentionned, no luck

Différent router or wifi connection produce the exact same problem, black screen and lost of wifi connection.
I am really puzzled by this problem.

Don't know what to do next.

Just in case we're not talking about he same thing when you say a full reset, here's the list of usual steps.

Other than that, I don't have any ideas short of a restore.

Thanks again for your help.

I havé done some more testing and could get the video to play at my son's place.

So it looks like my problem could be coming from my router!!
I need to do more testing but the good news is that I could get the video to play again.

Back to my place the video has stopped working. Black screen and lost of wifi.

Router reset is my next step, firmware update may not be possible because it is an old router so it may be time to buy à new one.

Good to hear you've made progress.

If the router can not be updated you're right, you'll most likely need a new one. Luckily routers have gotten fairly cheap over the last few years. Please let us know what you end up doing.

The strange thing about this is that my 2 other computers don't have any problem with my router and with video.
It looks like the Ipad ios6 update and my dlink router don't like each other.

I need to do more debugging.

A soft reset didn't do anything, still same video problem with my IPad

The router is a d-link DIR-625, the firmware is at the latest version (1.09)

Remember..... My 2 other computers do not have any problem with wifi or video.

The next step will have to be a hard reset on the router, I will try that later. Is there any known incompatibility between D-link firmware and Ios6???

I have a few iPad2 compatible sample video trailers located here:

Sample Movie Trailers | Tools4Movies | DVD Catalyst 4

just visit the link in Safari on your iPad, and tap on one of them to play them and see if it works.

I just tried it, no luck. The little wheel turns it says video loading but nothing happen.
I also loose wifi connectivity and have to turn wifi off and on (on the iPad) to be able to continue working with the iPad

If I wait long enough I end up with a crossed circle and a triangle in the middle of the screen, I guess it mean you can't play that video.
And for sure I loose wifi connectivity. What a pain.....

Problem fixed by replacing the router
