What's new

On the road and off it too.

Yes. Battery was still at 35% when the movie was done. I think it started at round about 75%.

That was hilarious. I see he seems to have knocked out the left rear indicator doing that.

For several months, the Canadians among us have been making some pointed comments about the length and severity of the winter. So just how cold does it get? With this series of photographs, I hope to give you some idea. It's difficult to get a true perspective, but the snow and ice is about 7 feet thick, and it took some seriously low temperatures to get it there.

This is the North Saskatchewan River at Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. The river springs in the Columbia Icefields and wends its way across much of North America, eventually feeding the Missouri.

Good shots, Kevin. How thick does the ice have to be before the 18 wheelers can drive on it?

I've read the Sturgeon population of the NSR is down to 1,000.

No idea, really. I heard once that the icebridge across the Mackenzie at Ft. Providence was 16 feet thick. I've driven vehicles across there that weigh in at 63.5 tonnes, so that's quite reassuring, if true, given that the icebridge was nearly a mile long.

That crossing has been replaced by a bridge now.

I've been offered many dodgy items over the years. I'm not sure what it is that makes people think that truckers are in the market for stolen goods, but this afternoon, I was offered a brand new projector out of the back of a Suburban. Makes a change from watches, perfume and jewelry.

Needless to say, I told the guy that I wasn't in the market.
