Macworld reports that the iPad will soon be getting a dedicated version of the Opera Mini browser. Opera Software says that it will be launching the browser next week at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. While there is already an iOS version of Opera Mini which runs on iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, this will be the first iPad-specific version. Macworld says that the Opera Mini browser for iPhone has already proved to be very popular with users, achieving one million downloads in just 24 hours.
“Our developers have been hard at work building the mobile browser of the future – for both consumers and mobile operators,†Lars Boilesen, CEO Opera Software, told Macworld. “We want our browser to impact lives in a meaningful way. It’s one reason we use mostly renewable resources to power Opera Mini’s servers. It’s why we make it light, so you don’t have to recharge your battery every few hours. It’s why Opera Mini and Opera Mobile can help operators reduce the bandwidth that clogs their networks. A browser may never change the world, but we’ll never stop trying to.â€
