I have a 3rd generation iPad, recently updated to the I hate IOS8. Pages was in the most recent update and got stuck at the "Loading" stage, about 2/3 through the circle. Restarting the iPad and restarting this process via the app store, Pages app, still gets stuck at the same place. And, of course, there are random restarts happening from day to day.
Pages does not appear in the list in the Updates part of the app store.
Hooking up to iTunes did not help. Pages was not recognised and in the list of apps on the iPad.
I have some files from Pages backed up but plenty are not, and I do not want to lose them. I am hoping there is some solution to finish this up.
If not, I see a Surface in my future. Too many problems of late at Apple.

First, reset your iPad, this will not remove any data or settings on your device. It might solve the restarting issue and your problem with Pages. To reset, press and hold Home and Power button until the Apple logo appears. Now release both and let the iPad power up.

I had a similar problem with Numbers in iOS 7.1.2. It didn't complete updating, and it didn't appear in the Updates tab in App Store, but I could still use it. So you see this is not a problem with iOS 8.

If Pages is not in the Updates tab, you should still find it in Purchased. Go there, maybe you'll be able to update it from there, if resetting didn't help.

Next option would be to update the app in iTunes on the computer, without the iPad connected to it. Then sync the iPad with iTunes.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried resetting and going through Purchased, and neither got me past the 2/3 point. I cannot use the app right now.
But, I will try the update in iTunes suggestion.
Thanks again.

I hope it will help.
I updated Pages in iTunes and then attached the iPad. I am happy to say that this did work, despite a "random" restart near the end of the process. Thank-you.
