While we’re waiting for Apple to release the elusive iWatch and take the market of wearable devices by storm, Pebble is minding its own business and keeps on developing its product. The Pebble smartwatch is one of the best on the market, having been released in 2013 after an impressive crowdfunding campaign that brought almost $5 million.
At the Consumers Electronics Show from this year, Pebble said that it will soon launch its dedicated app store. That moment has come today as Pebble has released its store which can be accessed via the official Pebble iOS app, with an Android version said to be on the cards in the following weeks. At the moment, the store features over 1000 apps and watch faces for owners of the Pebble smartwatches (the Pebble Steel or the original Pebble Smartwatch).
We’re extremely proud to announce that the Pebble appstore is now live with over 1000 apps and watchfaces. The appstore is built into the Pebble app on your iOS or Android device, and lets you find, browse and download Pebble apps and watchfaces directly from your smartphone. Pebble’s mission is to make products that mesh easily with your life. Until now, Pebble users discovered apps and watchfaces through several awesome third party resources like MyPebbleFaces. The Pebble appstore changes all this by providing a simple one-stop-shop for you to discover, manage, and install apps and watch faces.
The app store comes with such categories as Daily, Tools & Utilities, Notifications, Remotes, Fitness, and Games. Now, Pebble owners don’t have to search the iOS app store anymore and download apps from developers as they can be found in one convenient location. The Pebble app store application is free, of course, but the Pebble smartwatch is priced between $150 and $249.
