All across the globe, iPad fans are finally getting their hands on the device as it launches in nine more countries, and of course there are plenty of stories for the media to pick up about those queuing. In Australia, the Sydney Morning Herald reports that one person queuing even brought his own bodyguard in case things got a little rowdy with the Sydney nightlife.
In London, fans are queuing overnight outside Apple’s flagship Regent Street store, with one eager customer telling The Evening Standard newspaper, “I’ve been waiting for this for months, and I just couldn’t wait any longer. It’s going to be a long night, but we’re planning on ordering pizza if they’ll deliver, so it should be fun.â€
Elsewhere, some lucky people in the UK who had preordered their iPad actually got them delivered on the Thursday rather than having to wait until Friday. Apple’s marketing campaign in the UK is also gathering pace, with large billboards featuring the iPad showing up at Tube stations.
