Exciting news for iPad-owning Pokémaniacs this weekend with Polygon reporting that according to YouTuber Josh Wittenkeller, the Pokémon Trading Card Game is coming to iPad. Wittenkeller broke the news on his Twitter profile, along with a picture of the game running on a white iPad on a digital table.
“It looks like Pokémon TCGO is in works for the iPad! Should be a huge way to expand the game,” said Wittenkeller on Twitter.
Polygon says that The Pokémon Company has confirmed to them that the iPad game is genuine, but didn’t give any date for its release.
Polygon reckons that this is an iPad (and possibly iPhone too) version of the Pokemon Trading Card Game Online, which is currently available on Windows PC and Mac.
It’s likely that the image was taken at the Pokémon World Championship, which is taking place this weekend at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., where the iPad app is apparently already being shown to some of those in attendance.
When the game is released, it will mark the first full Pokémon game to appear on iOS, although there have already been some other official Pokémon related apps, such as a Pokémon TV app and a Pokédex app.
