That's Buckingham Palace in London, UK. It's the gate under the "famous" balcony.

No, we didn't. Anyway, I believe we wouldn't have had the chance to see it. There were so many people there!
What we saw was the horse guard appearing when we were looking for the theatre.
Yes, The Haymarket is very close. When we were kids (the world was black and white in those days!) we would often be taken to see the changing of the guard as a day out......not so many tourists back then so it was always easy to get a good view.

There really were loads of tourists! At Westminster Abbey, I've heard somebody say they needed two hours to get inside. The queue there seemed endless!
