Hi Everyone
I am new to this forum, so am hoping to get some help. I have trouble deleting photos from albums on my iPad! I open an album, highlight a photo and tap delete, a message comes on the screen which says that I have this photo in other albums and do I want to delete them all? And then highlighted in red it says DELETE ALL but I can't find a way of just deleting the one photo! I can't seem to delete albums I no longer want either! Can anybody help me?

Apparently all photos are stored in the Camera Roll. Anything shown in albums is just a shortcut or placeholder for the real file, still residing in the Camera Roll. I cannot comment on deleting from albums as I haven't created any.

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

Yes I'm afraid that's just how the photo app is. You can delete individual photos from albums though without deleting the one in the camera roll. To delete an album, just press the Albums Tab and they will load, press Edit and a X will appear on each album, just press which ones you want to delete.

2 very informative threads from which you will learn many tips and shortcuts for the IPad.

Problem retrieving a deleted picture from my iPad2

Was this photo in the native photo app? If it was and you don't have a backup on your PC, icloud or still have it on your camera then I'm afraid it's gone. The iPad does not have a trash bin where you can retrieve it.

When in the photo app you will see all the sections along the top, press photos.....can you see your photos here? If yes press the arrow thingy top right, select the photos for deletion then select Delete top left in red.

This works for me for photos downloaded from my camera to the ipad, let us know if this has worked for you.

it does not allow me to delete them like that now what?

Well I don't understand this, unless the photos have been synced from your PC you should be able to delete them from your iPad.
do your screens look the same as below? If not what is different? You can also elect to delete photos individually, select a photo and when it loads press the Trash symbol.

Yes my screens are the same. But when I try to delete photos which were loaded from the camera card with the apple accessory
, the DELETE button does not work. It only works when I select photos which are on the camera roll very frustrating

It may be the app acting up here so close the app completely and relaunch it. From the home screen do the four finger swipe up or double press the home button to reveal your multi task bar. These are all the apps that you have opened at one time. Long press the app until it jiggles and a red minus sign will appear above it. Press the minus sign, this will close the app, not delete it, now press the home button to return to your screen. It's also a good idea to close all these apps, as it helps the iPad run smoothly. See if you can delete them now.

If you still can't I'm thinking you'll need to do it by way of your PC to be rid of them. Have a look at these threads.

that's the bit I don't like, you want to delete one photo in one album and then the notification comes up......you have this photo in other albums do you want to delete them all? But you don't have a choice of saying 'NO'!

I have the same problem, is it possible to just keep a photo in an album or hide camera roll?

Short answer, no, if you don't want to have to look at them all the time get another app in which you can have just the photos you want....photo Manager Pro is great for this.
