Problems Sync'ng My Cellphone with My iPad

The object is to send a text / iMessage through my iPad using my Cellphone #.. I went to Settings > iMessage on the line that says Add Another Email address I tried to No Avail to Input my Cell #.. It wouldn't let me.. What am I Missing.. I followed prompts on my iPad , the example even made reference to a cell # and 2 email addresses.. Cheers Thanks.

Unless you're cellphone is an iPhone, and using the same iCloud account, you can't use your phone number as a Send As address.

If you're cellphone is an iPhone and on the same iCloud account, it's number will show up automatically and all you have to do is check it ON.
