im on 5.0.1 and jailbroken....I want to upgrade to 5.1.1 but get "software update failed an error occurred downloading ios 5.1.1" how to update and then re-jailbreaking using GP 2.0.4

You should be able to just connect your iPad to the most updated version of iTunes and press Restore (in the Summary tab). iTunes should automatically upgrade the iPad to the stock iOS 5.1.1.

However, if you continue to have troubles, take a look at this tutorial: http://www.ipadforums.net/jailbreak...lsafe-method-restore-current-version-ios.html.

If you follow the outlined steps exactly, you should end up with a stock iPad running iOS 5.1.1.
