Radio app constant crash

Usually 'Radio for iPad' by leuchtetgruen is always running in the background. But today, it just won't work.

On opening, it goes straight back to the Homescreen. The iPad's have not been updates recently, nor any new apps installed. One of the ipad's isn't even jail broken.

Unsuccessful steps, which where taken to resolve:
-Close the app, and all others from the Multitaskbar
-restart
-reboot
-contacting the developer. Got a response within 5 min stating I should retry

Is it possible, that the app depends on the internet, of course it does, it streams radio, but that it doesn't even work, if the streaming server is down?

Shoutcast app, which I use everyday, began crashing, when changing channels on the app about a week ago. I deleted and re-installed the app and it still crashed. I downloaded Super Radio, yesterday, it has started crashing. I did an iPad reset which has not made any difference. Internet connectivity is at all bars. A second app crashing tells me it is iPad and not the apps.
