Desktop strategy game Rome: Total War has finally arrived on iPad, and is one of the first AAA desktop strategy games to appear on the platform. It has been heavily optimized for the device, with revamped graphics and the addition of features that have been specifically designed for tablet gaming.
Truly epic in scale, spanning 300 years of conflict, from the Punic Wars to the death of Augustus, Rome: Total War for iPad lets you direct thousands of troops in real-time battles and build an empire using turn-based strategy, all via touch-screen controls.
“Realising ROME: Total War for iPad has been a huge design and programming challenge,” said David Stephen, Managing Director at Feral Interactive. “Our aim has been to bring this classic to a new and very different platform without compromising its enormous content, superb gameplay or strategic depth. Working closely with Creative Assembly, I believe we have done that and am confident that Total War veterans and novices alike will enjoy the result.”
The game costs $9.99/£7.99/€9.99, and that’s a one-time-only payment without any nasty in-app purchase surprises.
