Rovio has confirmed to the Kotaku publication that its upcoming title in the Angry Birds serie will be a role-playing-game. This is a significant departure from the mobile mini-game Angry Birds is known for, but it will definitely manage to generate quite a lot of buzz once it gets launched. The game will come with a turn-based combat and a crafting system, which means that users will be able craft armor, potions and weapons.
EPIC Weapons!
You’ll be able to, “Craft amazing battle-winning weapons like a wooden sword, frying pan or stick thingy with a sponge on top!”
EPIC Upgrades!
Gameplay will evolve as you, “Level up your characters, armor, weapons and potions to become a legendary hero ready to take on the mightiest pig warrior!”
EPIC battles!
Wage war with, “Turn-based battles between our heroic flock of warriors and those green snout-nosed scoundrels! It’s easy to play, but difficult to master!”
As you probably know, most of the online role playing games come with an item purchasing system, so Rovio could be using a game currency or in-app purchases for that. The game is said to launch first in Australia and Canada this week, with more countries to follow.
The Angry Birds Epic game will get released as a soft launch on the iTunes store and the final version will get released later this year on all major mobile platforms: iOS, Android and Windows Phone 8. For those who don’t know, a soft launch is the release of a certain product or service to a limited audience.
