I am amused by all this the entire IT industry updates average every 12 weeks that is new models or speed bumps. Major upgrades like processor changes such as the new Intel Sandy Bridge processors is major change usually every 2 years. operating systems also upgrade every year with major upgrades every 3 years. When some one purchases a computer in many cases they upgrade every 2 to 3 years this cycle is due to finance and leases for computers run average 3 years, home users average is 4 years per upgrade. In business many users have no choice to upgrade as in most cases it is software upgrades that will dictate it. In the graphic arts, Cad, and digital photography or digital Video production it is essential to to upgrade as it will with out question improve productivity.
When one looks at iPods, iPhones and iPads what you find is a different culture regard upgrading. First of all with Apple most change of models are every year. If you purchase any one of the above outright many will upgrade yearly or at least every 2 years. One reason is that unlike Mac OS and Windows applications usually are not the reason a customer upgrades it is more about new performance and features or the so called
COOL product effect.
The iPad is unique when you purchase the iPad one can expect a high resale value when you sell say 10 months down the track. Example I paid Australian dollars May 2010 $750 for an iPad 32 wifi I sold that iPad for $450 net Australian on
eBay just before the release of iPad 2 My cost of ownership was $300 for 10 months or $30 dollars a month
or $1 dollar per day. When I replaced my iPad with iPad 2 in Australia at least the cost came down by $100 because of the dollar exchange rate hit $1.2 us dollars for $1 aust dollar. The other factor is warranty the new iPad has another 12 months warranty.
The point of this post is simple hop on the train now as the cost of travel ( purchase of ipad 2 ) for 1 year will be $1 dollar per day to own the latest in technology Compared to owning a laptop and or a PC tower it is a small however it will give
YOU personal pleasure and enjoyment that you would not have if you choose not to buy..... Of course this is different if you are on contracts with service providers.
