For instance if I use Splashtop Remote Desktop for iPad, and connect to my desktop PC from Spain via the above app (or any remote software app) and then run BBC iPlaye of SKY go, wil this work?

Has anyone ever done this?

Basically, I am in spain for two weeks and want to watch some of the live football content during this period. By default foreign IP's are banned so the local WIFI in the place i am staying will not work.

thanks in advance guys

It will work, for sure, but how well depends entirely on the bandwidth of the connection to your PC. I use the latest version of Splashtop with remote discovery and the latest version of the PC app that's needed too (the PC app is free) and it works faultlessly but streaming live video is very bandwidth intensive so you'll need a really fast Internet link.

I have also found that Splashtop works best if you first power recycle the iPad (or use XSysInfo) to 'clean up' the iPad's RAM otherwise you sometimes get 'connection lost' from Splashtop. If you power recycle before starting Splashtop that problem seems never to occur (for me).

One minor issue that I've had - and there's probably a simple way around it - I 'auto hide' my menu bar on the PC and I find it difficult to bring that up on Splashtop, so I usually leave my menu bar 'unhidden' when I leave my PC intending later to access it using Splashtop.
