I sure did. And I couldn't help but think how technology has advanced since 1969. I find out about a movie from someone who is half a continent away, and watch it on my telephone, wirelessly, without any pauses or glitches. We live what was fiction just a few years ago.

Now all we have to do is find the monolith. ;)

Well, it's out there somewhere, either somewhere near Jupiter or sitting in Japetus.

Was in a bookstore this afternoon and saw a new installment of I, Robot "to protect"
Mickey Zucker Reichert is the author. It's an estate of Isaac Asimov, approved release.

This post just reminded me of James Michener's excellent book "Space". While Michener is not normally known as a SF author, his fictional history of space exploration is very good and interesting reading.

As always, his book is well researched and introduces subjects often forgotten, such as the fact that the Apollo and Soyuz programs were direct descendants of the Nazi V-2 program. He added Apollo 18 to the program to show what would have happened in the event of catastrophic failure on the lunar surface.

I enjoyed Space.
The made for TV mini series that aired in 1985 was well done too.

Has anyone seen the HBO miniseries "From the Earth to the Moon"? I have the DVD set and really enjoyed watching it several times.

Yes. The box set (VHS) was given to me as a gift on Christmas. An amazing production.

I don't think I've seen that one.

One show I can watch over and again is "For all mankind". It has no narrative, except the voices of the astronauts. Music was written for the show by Brian Eno. Deep Blue Day is one of my favorites, but was unfortunately stolen for the "swimming in the toilet" scene in Trainspotting.

Haven't read the story but having seen the movie trailer, "Cloud Atlas" is on my must read and view list.

Despite a one week shouting hiatus - FOX TV says the September 28 Season 5 premier of "FRINGE" is still on schedule.

Anyone watching this series? I'm a big fan of parallel universe tales and this one works well on TV.

I watched Another Earth recently, whilst on the fringe of SciFi it was a fantastic film to watch and I really loved the ending.

Okay, and I don't know if it's Science Fiction (it is to me) - but Doctor Who premiers this Saturday (September 1). Can't wait! Although, TBH, I much preferred the Tenth doctor - I sure do like the stories. :)

I love this programme, I think it's really kept up with the times in terms of production values, I'm also really looking forward to the new series (BTW, I can't remember the Doctors by number so it could be anyone?!).
